Objective of the Activity:

The objective of the grooming session on Communication Skills was to enhance students’ overall personality, professional behavior, and workplace readiness. The session aimed to develop effective verbal and non-verbal communication skills, improve clarity and confidence in expression, and create awareness about professional email etiquette. The activity focused on grooming students to communicate effectively in academic, corporate, and social environments, thereby bridging the gap between classroom learning and professional expectations.

Participating Students: A total of 38 MBA students participated in the activity.

The Communication Skills Grooming Session, organized by the concerned department of the Maharishi School of Management, was designed as an interactive and skill-oriented platform where students actively engaged in understanding and improving essential communication competencies required in academic and professional life. The session was structured around key components of communication skills, each reflecting the practical demands and expectations of the corporate and professional environment.

For each component, students participated actively through discussions, examples, and guided interactions. The session emphasized both theoretical understanding and practical application, ensuring that students developed the ability to communicate effectively, confidently, and professionally in diverse situations.

The session covered important aspects of communication skills such as:

  1. Verbal Communication – Focused on clarity of speech, tone modulation, pronunciation, vocabulary, confidence, and active listening.
  2. Non-Verbal Communication – Understanding the role of body language, facial expressions, eye contact, posture, gestures, and personal appearance in effective communication.
  3. Professional Email Etiquette – Structure and format of professional emails, appropriate subject lines, formal greetings and closings, clarity of content, tone, and common mistakes to avoid.

The session successfully provided participants with an opportunity to enhance their speaking ability, listening skills, professional behavior, and overall confidence, while also developing awareness about the impact of verbal and non-verbal cues. The interactive and learner-centric environment fostered a culture of professionalism, effective interpersonal communication, and self-improvement. Participants gained practical insights into interviews, presentations, teamwork, and workplace communication standards.

The session was conducted by Dr. Shruti Srivastava, who assessed students based on participation, communication clarity, confidence, body language, and overall professional conduct. The students were appreciated for their active involvement, enthusiasm, and willingness to learn. The session concluded on a positive note with valuable feedback and guidance for future improvement.
