Visit to News18 Network- a real-time experience

Objective of the Visit

 

 

The objective of the visit was to familiarize students with real-time newsroom operations and broadcast journalism. It aimed to provide hands-on exposure to professional media practices and to bridge the gap between classroom learning and industry standards.

 

Participating Students

Students of BA (Journalism and Mass Communication), along with faculty members of the department, participated in the visit.

The Department of Media, School of Media and Animation, organized an educational visit to the News18 Network with the objective of providing students with practical exposure to the functioning of a professional news organization. The visit proved to be an enriching and enlightening learning experience, as it effectively bridged the gap between theoretical knowledge and real-time media practices.

During the visit, students were introduced to various aspects of newsroom operations, including news production, broadcasting processes, and the professional work culture of the electronic media industry. A significant highlight of the visit was the opportunity to witness a live interview of renowned Indian film actor Ms. Rani Mukherjee, which offered valuable insights into celebrity interviews and studio-based media interactions.

More than 30 students from the Department of Journalism and Mass Communication participated in the visit. The students also had the opportunity to interact with the celebrity guest, which enhanced their understanding of media communication and interview techniques.

Dr. Ritu Garg and Mr. Sunil Kumar Yadav accompanied the students and provided academic guidance throughout the visit.

Conclusion

Overall, the visit served as an excellent platform for students to observe and understand real-time media practices, thereby enhancing their practical knowledge and professional awareness. Such industry-oriented initiatives contribute meaningfully to experiential learning and the holistic development of media students.
