A Report on
Hospital Visit of D.Pharm Students
11 November, 2025 (Tuesday)
10:00 am to 3:00 pm
Objective of the Visit:
The objective of the visit was to provide students with exposure to a modern healthcare facility featuring private and semi-private rooms, a High Dependency Unit (HDU), general wards, and an understanding of hospital pharmacy operations.
Participating Students:
The visit was attended by D.Pharm First Year students (2025–27).
On 11 November 2025, the Maharishi School of Pharmaceuticals (MSOPs), in coordination with Harsh ENT Hospital, Ghaziabad, organized a hospital visit for D.Pharm First Year students (2025–27).
At the reception, students observed the efficient handling of patient registration, record-keeping, and visitor guidance, emphasizing the importance of administrative management in ensuring smooth hospital workflow. They also gained insights into digital health records, queue management systems, and the level of professionalism required to manage high patient footfall. During physician counseling sessions, ENT specialists demonstrated effective communication by explaining procedures and addressing patient concerns, thereby highlighting the importance of patient privacy, empathetic communication, and personalized care. Students learned how doctors build trust, take detailed case histories, and ensure that each patient feels heard and supported throughout their treatment journey.
The ICU impressed students with advanced life-support systems, real-time monitoring, and critical-care teamwork among healthcare professionals. They observed stringent infection-control practices, the use of advanced ventilators and infusion pumps, and continuous collaboration among doctors, nurses, and technical staff to stabilize patients. This exposure helped students understand the importance of critical thinking, rapid decision-making, and precision in saving lives during emergencies.
In the Operation Theatre (OT), students learned about anesthesia workstations, autoclaves, sterilization protocols, and the coordinated efforts of surgeons, anesthetists, and technicians. They also gained exposure to the importance of maintaining aseptic conditions, the role of surgical instruments, and the step-by-step preparation required before any procedure. This experience emphasized how precision, teamwork, and strict adherence to safety guidelines ensure successful surgical outcomes.
At the pharmacy, students observed medication dispensing, patient counseling, and inventory control, emphasizing the significance of accurate prescription handling and effective interdepartmental coordination. They also learned about drug storage conditions, labeling requirements, and the critical role pharmacists play in preventing medication errors and ensuring patient safety.
The visit began with a lively and motivating interaction with the hospital’s Managing Director, Dr. B. P. Tyagi, whose valuable insights encouraged students to develop professionalism, compassion, and a strong work ethic in their future healthcare roles.
The departmental program continued with an informative awareness session on Tuberculosis and Rabies, covering prevention strategies, treatment protocols, modes of transmission, and the importance of timely vaccination. This session strengthened students’ understanding of public health issues and highlighted the pharmacist’s role in community education.
Overall, the visit inspired students to make a positive impact in healthcare and promoted a deeper appreciation for the pharmacy profession. The success of this hospital visit would not have been possible without the tireless efforts and dedication of our esteemed faculty members, Dean, Deputy Dean, and the enthusiastic participation of the students.
