Date of Event: 13th November, 2025
Organized by: Maharishi Law School, MUIT Noida
Objective:
The Maharishi Law School, MUIT Noida Campus, organized a court visit to the Saket District Court, Delhi, on 13th November 2025. The visit aimed to provide students with an invaluable opportunity to gain practical exposure to judicial processes and observe courtroom procedures in a real-life setting.
Participants:
The visit was conducted for BA LLB and BBA LLB students from Maharishi Law School.
Visit Details:
At Tis Hazari District Court, Delhi, the students were divided into groups of six or seven by faculty members Mr. Ketan Kumar and Ms. Ritika Sharma. They were introduced to several public prosecutors who were assigned to guide them through the day’s proceedings. These prosecutors offered valuable context and explanations regarding the cases being heard, the nature of the offences, and the procedural steps involved.
During the visit, the students were taken around various sections of the court, including the Sessions Court, Family Court, Mediation Room, Ahlmad Room, Lawyers’ Block, Bar Room, and Utility Block. Observing these spaces firsthand provided meaningful exposure to the practical functioning of the legal system and deepened their understanding beyond theoretical classroom learning. The real environment of the court made the experience more engaging and impactful.
Students witnessed a variety of cases, ranging from bail hearings and framing of charges to witness examinations and final arguments. Sitting inside the courtroom, they observed how evidence is presented, how judges interact with advocates, and how procedural rules are strictly followed. The public prosecutors explained the importance of each stage of the trial, the burden of proof in criminal cases, and the construction of legal arguments. This allowed students to connect theoretical concepts of criminal law with their practical application and real-world challenges.
Under the guidance of the Chief Public Prosecutor, the students also interacted with the Sessions Judge, Additional Sessions Judge, and Additional District Judge, who provided valuable career advice. One of the judges shared her personal journey, highlighting that litigation can be challenging in the initial years, especially for first-generation lawyers. She emphasized that with skill, patience, and dedication, one can build a successful career. She encouraged students to consider Judiciary and Civil Services examinations, advised them to take up diverse cases in the beginning, and stressed the importance of internships and mastering the art of cross-examination. Her words were both practical and inspiring.
The visit proved to be an eye-opening experience, especially for students aspiring to pursue litigation or criminal law. It offered a rare opportunity to observe the justice system in action and reflect on the crucial role legal professionals play in upholding the rule of law. Interaction with public prosecutors also helped students appreciate the ethical and professional responsibilities inherent in legal practice. Overall, the court visit to Tis Hazari District Court served as a valuable educational experience, bridging the gap between classroom learning and courtroom realities.
The visit was successfully coordinated by Mr. Ketan Kumar and Ms. Ritika Sharma.
