INTRODUCTION
On 24/Feb /2025, , a webinar titled "Introduction of Maharishi Jyotish" was held, with Prof. Bhuvnesh Sharma as the guest speaker. The event focused on the principles and benefits of Maharishi Jyotish, an ancient Vedic science that connects planetary influences with human life. The session included a welcome address, a detailed lecture, and an interactive Q&A session.
Opening Ceremony
The event commenced with Mr Gaurav Thakur , Deputy Dean of the School of Science of Consciousness, extending a heartfelt welcome to Prof. Bhuvnesh Sharma, who has 33 years of experience under Maharishi Mahesh Yogi and has served as the former Vice-Chancellor of Maharishi Mahesh Vedic Vishwavidyalaya.
Prof. Bhuvnesh Sharma's Lecture
- Fundamentals of Maharishi Jyotish:
Prof. Sharma introduced Maharishi Jyotish as a precise and scientific system of Vedic astrology that aligns human life with cosmic rhythms. He emphasized that Jyotish is not just about predicting future events but also about enhancing self-awareness and harmonizing life with natural laws.
- The Role of Consciousness in Jyotish:
A significant part of the lecture focused on how consciousness influences human destiny. Prof. Sharma explained that Maharishi Jyotish operates on the principle that the movements of celestial bodies correspond with individual and collective consciousness. He elaborated on how planetary positions at the time of birth shape one’s mental tendencies, health, and life path.
- Key Components of Jyotish:
Prof. Sharma provided an overview of key elements in Maharishi Jyotish, including:
- Grahas (Planets): The nine planetary influences and their effects on life.
- Rashis (Zodiac Signs): The twelve signs and their unique characteristics.
- Bhavas (Houses): The twelve houses governing different aspects of life.
- Dashas (Planetary Periods): How planetary cycles influence life events.
- Yogas (Astrological Combinations): Special planetary alignments and their effects.
- Application of Maharishi Jyotish in Daily Life:
Prof. Sharma emphasized that Jyotish serves as a tool for making informed decisions in various aspects of life, such as career, relationships, health, and spiritual growth. He explained the importance of Muhurta (auspicious timing) for initiating important activities and how remedial measures, such as mantra chanting and meditation, can help balance planetary influences.
