The Expert Talk on the Indian Knowledge System (IKS) was successfully organized at Maharishi University of Information Technology, Noida, on March 5, 2025. The event aimed to explore and celebrate the rich heritage of India's traditional knowledge systems through insightful discussions led by Dr. N. P. Singh IAS (Retd.).
Event Proceedings
The event began with a warm and heartfelt welcome by Ms. Sonakshi Saxena, who provided a concise overview of the event’s objectives, emphasizing the relevance of the Indian Knowledge System in contemporary education. She encouraged the audience to actively engage and seize the opportunity to interact with the distinguished speaker. Following this, Dr. Mudita Agarwal and Mr. Gaurav Thakur conducted the sacred Guru Puja, paying homage to wisdom and knowledge. The session was further enriched with Saraswati Vandana, a tribute to Goddess Saraswati, creating a spiritually uplifting and intellectually inspiring atmosphere.
Welcome Address
The Welcome Address by Prof. (Dr.) Archana Pandey, Dean, School of Science and Humanities, provided an insightful introduction to the objectives of the event. Her words highlighted the university’s commitment to preserving and promoting the Indian Knowledge System. Following this, the Honorable Vice Chancellor, Prof. (Dr.) Bhanu Pratap Singh, addressed the audience in an online session, emphasizing the importance of integrating IKS into academic curricula and research for sustainable progress.
A special Felicitation Ceremony was conducted to honor the guest speaker, Dr. N.P. Singh, IAS (Retd.), with a Swastik pooja, a Tulsi sapling, an Angvastra, and a memento as tokens of appreciation and respect for his remarkable contributions to the field.
The success of the Expert Talk on the Indian Knowledge System was greatly enhanced by the invaluable guidance of Honorable Director General (Group Captain Dr. O. P. Sharma) sir. His visionary leadership, unwavering support, and insightful guidance played a crucial role in shaping the event.
Expert Talk by Dr. N.P. Singh, IAS (Retd.)
Dr. N.P. Singh delivered an enlightening lecture, exploring the multifaceted aspects of the Indian Knowledge System. His talk covered historical perspectives, scientific advancements embedded in ancient wisdom, and the applicability of IKS in various disciplines such as health, governance, and technology. He elaborated on how ancient Indian texts provide profound insights into sustainable living, medicine, architecture, and ethical governance. He emphasized the contributions of legendary scholars like Charaka, Sushruta, Aryabhata, and Chanakya in shaping modern scientific and administrative frameworks. He highlighted the integration of Vedic sciences with modern technology, stressing the need for interdisciplinary research. He pointed out the relevance of Ayurveda in holistic healthcare and how its principles align with contemporary wellness trends. He also discussed the role of Indian mathematics in computational sciences, showcasing how ancient numeral systems and algebraic concepts form the foundation of today’s digital revolution.
The session captivated the audience, providing valuable insights into the importance of reviving traditional knowledge to complement modern scientific and technological progress.
Closing Ceremony
The event concluded with a heartfelt vote of thanks by Dr. Priyanka Bhardwaj, expressing gratitude to the guest speaker, dignitaries, and participants. The session ended on a patriotic note with the national anthem.
Conclusion
The Expert Talk on IKS was a resounding success, inspiring the audience to delve deeper into India’s traditional knowledge systems and their modern applications. The event was attended by deans of various schools, faculty members, and students of SOC, SOBM, and SOET. MUIT Noida remains committed to hosting more such intellectually enriching events in the future. Faculty of the School of Science and Humanities, including Ms. Sonakshi Saxena, Dr. Madhavi, Dr. Tenzit Tyagi, Dr. Nishikant Bharti, Dr. Priyanka Bhardwaj, Dr. Alok Kumar Verma, Dr. Nisha Kumari, Mr. Dhiraj Chaudhary, Dr. Jyoti, Dr. Sudhir Kumar Pandey, and Dr. Shivangi Mathur, contribute to making the event a grand success.
