Objective of the Event:
The objective of the educational tour to the Surajkund International Art and Craft Mela was to provide students with hands-on experience in photography while applying key concepts from their academic curriculum, including Photography, Human Anatomy, Composition, Colour Theory, and Movement of the Human Body. Through a structured photowalk based on three themes—Identity, Colours of the Nation, and Food—students explored visual storytelling, cultural diversity, and artistic expression. The excursion aimed to enhance their observational skills, creativity, and technical proficiency in photography, fostering a deeper understanding of composition, lighting, and movement in a real-world environment.

Participating Students:
Students from the 2nd and 4th semesters of the Bachelor of Animation program, along with students from the Master of Animation program, participated in the educational tour.

Event Details:
The Department of Animation, Maharishi University of Information Technology, organized an enriching educational excursion to the renowned Surajkund International Art and Craft Mela on Monday, 10th February 2025. The visit was structured as a photowalk, where students were tasked with capturing images based on three specific themes: Identity, Colours of the Nation, and Food. The event provided students with practical experience in photography while reinforcing essential concepts from their academic curriculum.

Faculty members Pankaj Salhan and Raghuraj Singh accompanied the students, guiding and mentoring them throughout the session. The vibrant Surajkund International Art and Craft Mela served as an ideal backdrop for the photowalk, offering a dynamic environment to explore and apply photography principles.

Photography Themes and Observations:

  • Identity: Students focused on capturing unique cultural elements, traditional attire, and expressions of artisans and visitors, showcasing the diverse identities present at the fair.
  • Colours of the Nation: The mela, known for its vivid and colorful ambiance, provided ample opportunities to document rich hues representing India's artistic heritage.
  • Food: The variety of traditional cuisines available at the fair became a fascinating subject for photography, enabling students to experiment with angles, textures, and lighting.

The tour proved to be a valuable learning experience as students:
