Introduction
The Symposium ‘BrainWaves’ kicked off with great enthusiasm and creativity hosted by the Maharishi School of Engineering and Technology at Maharishi University of Information Technology, Noida Campus. The event saw the participation of talented students from various disciplines, coming together to showcase their knowledge, innovative ideas, and skills in three major competitions:
- PowerPoint Presentation Competition
- Poster Making Competition
- Science Exhibition.
Day-1 (13-02-2025):
With a diverse range of contemporary and futuristic topics, the day provided a platform for students to engage in discussions and present their findings while also honing their research and presentation skills. Each competition was held in an organized format, allowing participants to explore and present topics in the fields of Artificial Intelligence, Emerging Technologies, Education, and more.
PowerPoint Presentation Competition
The PowerPoint Presentation Competition featured 20 teams, each consisting of two students. The participants were given the opportunity to select from a variety of cutting-edge topics. The presentations reflected deep insights and creativity on the following topics:
- Deep Seek: Teams presented on how AI systems such as Deep Seek are enhancing data analytics, offering more effective decision-making processes in industries.
- Cloud Computing: This presentation explored the growing significance of cloud infrastructure in business operations, with an emphasis on scalability, flexibility, and security.
- Feminism: The discussions highlighted the history of feminist movements worldwide and their impact on gender equality, both socially and professionally.
- Artificial Intelligence (AI): Presentations focused on AI's transformative role across sectors such as healthcare, finance, and education, illustrating its capabilities and challenges.
- Apollo 11: A historical dive into the Apollo 11 mission, providing insights into its technological breakthroughs and its contribution to space exploration.
- Cyber Security: With an increasing reliance on digital technologies, students emphasized the importance of cyber security, detailing strategies for protecting data and systems from potential threats.
- Metaverse: Students explored the emerging Metaverse, its technological aspects, and its potential for creating immersive digital worlds for social interaction and business.
- Web Development: Presentations demonstrated how modern web development is evolving with technologies like HTML5, CSS3, and JavaScript frameworks, focusing on the future of web-based applications.
- Astrophysics: Delving into the world of astrophysics, presentations showcased key discoveries, space phenomena, and the future of space exploration.
- Management: The presentations explored contemporary management strategies, focusing on leadership, innovation, and resource optimization in business.
- Emerging Technologies: Presenters highlighted emerging technologies such as blockchain, AI, and IoT, showcasing their potential to disrupt various industries and improve quality of life.
- Inclusive Education: Teams discussed the significance of inclusive education systems that cater to diverse learning needs, ensuring access to quality education for all students.
Judging Criteria for PowerPoint Competition: The presentations were judged on several parameters:
- Creativity & Innovation: Unique perspectives and novel approaches to the topic.
- Content Accuracy: In-depth research and fact-based information.
- Visual Appeal: Clarity and design of the slides, ensuring they supported the topic effectively.
- Delivery: Confidence and clarity in presenting ideas and concepts.
Poster Making Competition
The Poster Making Competition saw 10 teams participate, each presenting creative and visually appealing posters. The topics were as follows:
- Educational Posters were designed to emphasize the importance of education, promoting a message of learning for all.
- Metaverse Teams presented their vision of the Metaverse, showcasing how virtual reality and immersive technologies could revolutionize social interactions and business.
- Social Media The impact of social media on modern life was depicted, reflecting both its positive contributions and potential drawbacks.
- Quantum AI Students designed visually captivating posters that illustrated the synergy between quantum computing and artificial intelligence, highlighting its transformative potential.
- STMS (Smart Traffic Management System) A futuristic approach to traffic management was presented, demonstrating how smart systems could alleviate traffic congestion and enhance urban planning.
Judging Criteria for Poster Competition: The posters were judged on:
- Visual Appeal: Aesthetic design, clarity, and use of colors.
- Message Clarity: How well the message or theme was conveyed.
- Creativity: Innovative design and conceptual approach.
- Relevance to the Topic: How effectively the poster reflected the chosen theme.
Day-2 (14-02-2025)
The final day of the Student Symposium “BrainWaves” concluded with great enthusiasm and remarkable displays of innovation. The day began with an exciting Science Exhibition, where 13 teams, comprising around 50 students, presented their creative projects. These projects demonstrated both practical application and the brilliance of student ingenuity. Some of the standout exhibits included:
- Smart Blind Stick: A device designed to assist visually impaired individuals in navigating their surroundings.
- LPG Gas Leakage Detector: A safety device that detects gas leaks in households, enhancing safety measures.
- Magnetic Train without Tracks: An innovative concept where a train moves using magnetic force, eliminating the need for physical tracks.
- Solar Traffic Control: A project focused on utilizing solar energy for efficient traffic management.
- Chandrayaan 3: A model inspired by India’s space exploration mission to the moon.
- Radar Squad: A project centered on radar technology applications.
- Harmfulness of Acid Rain: A study aimed at raising awareness about the environmental impact of acid rain.
After the Science Exhibition, the results of both Day 1 and Day 2 competitions were announced by the esteemed Dean Academics, Dr. Trapty Agarwal. The winners of the various competitions were as follows:

Each winning team received Zebronics Headphones in recognition of their innovative contributions. The final day of the symposium was marked by enthusiastic participation and a strong display of creativity, marking the culmination of a successful event. Students had the opportunity to showcase their projects, exchange ideas, and foster an environment of learning and scientific exploration.
Dean Academics, Dr. Trapty Agarwal, and Dean SoET, Prof. (Dr.) Awakash Mishra, appreciated the participants and motivated the students club of SoET ”Social Technocrats: STc” for their active involvement and volunteer work during the events.
Conclusion
The Student Symposium “BrainWaves” was a resounding success, showcasing the brilliance and creativity of students from the School of Engineering and Technology. The PowerPoint presentations and posters covered a wide range of engaging and thought-provoking topics, highlighting the students' ability to tackle contemporary issues in technology, education, and society. This Symposium successfully achieved its goal of celebrating scientific innovation and providing students with a platform to showcase their talents. The achievements set a high standard and left everyone eagerly anticipating future editions of this inspiring event & this event served as an excellent platform for participants to engage with current and future trends, enhancing their knowledge and skills in these dynamic fields.
