Objective of the Workshop: The workshop aimed to provide management students with comprehensive knowledge and practical insights into financial planning and capital markets for a smarter financial future.

 

Participating Students: MBA, BBA and B.Com students were the primary attendees of the workshop.

The Maharishi School of Business Management, Noida under IQAC organized a two days’ workshop on the theme "Financial Planning, Investment Planning & Capital Markets" on 15th-16th January, 2025 in the auditorium at MUIT, Noida Campus.

The speaker of the workshop was Dr. Mukul Jain having rich & diverse experience of more than 30 years in industry, academics and training. He is empaneled training resource person of SEBI, NISM & CDSL to conduct “investment Awareness and Capital Markets”. The event commenced with a traditional Guru Puja followed by the felicitation of the distinguished speaker by Prof. (Dr.) Smita Mishra ma’am (Dean, SOBM) and Dr. Aditya Yadav (Deputy Dean, SOBM).

Day 1 Highlights:

The first day of the workshop focused on several key topics. The workshop began with an introduction to the importance of financial planning and investment, stressing the significance of managing personal finances wisely.

Further, students were introduced to various schemes of investment, which included an overview of potential avenues for building wealth. The concept of opening and managing a Demat account was thoroughly explained, empowering students with the practical knowledge needed to engage in the stock market.

Additionally, a detailed discussion was held on the structure of the Indian securities market, outlining its functions, regulatory framework, and its crucial role in the economy.

Day 2 Highlights:

The workshop continued on the second day with a series of insightful sessions, providing students with a comprehensive understanding of the financial markets.

The day began with an engaging discussion on Investment in the Secondary Market, where students learned about the dynamics of stock trading beyond the initial offering phase. The session focused on the key concepts and processes involved in trading stocks and the factors influencing stock prices in the secondary market.

Following this, a Live Demonstration of BSE and NSE Trading was conducted, offering students a real-time view of how trading takes place on the Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE) and the National Stock Exchange (NSE). The demonstration showcased live price movements of various stocks, allowing students to observe and understand the volatility and trends in the markets. This live trading session helped students connect theoretical knowledge with practical application.

A significant portion of the workshop was dedicated to a thorough explanation of Mutual Funds. The session covered the fundamentals of mutual funds, their benefits, and their different types, including equity funds, debt funds, hybrid funds, and sectorial funds. Students gained valuable insights into how mutual funds work as an investment tool, their risk-return profiles, and their role in an investor's portfolio.

Following the detailed sessions, a Query Session was held, where students had the opportunity to ask questions and clarify their doubts regarding the topics discussed. This interactive session encouraged active participation and ensured that students fully understood the subject matter.

To conclude the session, a Quiz was conducted to assess the students’ understanding of the concepts discussed both the days. The quiz was a comprehensive test covering all the topics presented, including the secondary market, live trading, and mutual funds.

Upon successful completion of the quiz, students will be awarded an E-Certificate after 15 days acknowledging their participation and knowledge in the field of financial planning and capital markets.

Overall, the workshop was an insightful learning experience, providing valuable knowledge to the students in the fields of financial planning, investment strategies, and understanding capital markets.
