Maharishi Media Academic Fest “exPRESSion – 2024”

The objective of the event: The main objective was to foster innovation, skill development, and knowledge exchange in the media field by engaging students in practical and creative activities, promoting interdisciplinary learning, and preparing them to excel in the dynamic media industry.

Participating Students: Students from various schools of the host university, Maharishi University of Information Technology, Noida Campus and students from various universities and institutes of Delhi, Greater Noida, Noida, and Roorkee participated in the Maharishi Media Academic Festival “exPRESSion – 2024.”.

The festival commenced on November 5, 2024, with a Guru Puja setting the tone for the academic festivities. The opening ceremony was graced by Prof. (Dr.) Anil Kumar Rai, Vice Chancellor (Pt. Deen Dayal Upadhyay Shekhawati University, Sikar, Rajasthan). He delivered an insightful address on the importance of adapting to the evolving media landscape and preparing students for various fields within media.

Prof. Group Captain O. P. Sharma, Director General of Maharishi University, emphasized the need for students to develop new skills to stay ahead in the dynamic media industry in his speech. 

The Vice Chancellor of Maharishi University, Prof. (Dr.) B. P. Singh, also addressed the gathering, stressing the significance of innovation, research, intelligence, and technology in shaping the future of media education.

Dr. Shambhoo Sharan Gupta, Head of the Department of Media and Convener of the Maharishi Media Academic Fest “exPRESSion – 2024,” announced the commencement of seven exciting competitions, including News Writing, News Presentation, Piece to Camera, Spot Photography, Poster Designing, Snap Story and Street Play that would take place during the event. The event was attended by nearly 100 participants from various universities, all of whom had gathered to witness and engage in an array of academic and cultural activities.

On the second day, the closing ceremony of “exPRESSion – 2024” took place. The ceremony was graced by the Chief Guest, Professor (Dr.) Sanjay Singh Baghel from the University of Delhi, and Guest of Honor, Ms. Priya Singh, Senior News Anchor at Zee News.

During his address, Prof. (Dr.) Sanjay Singh Baghel highlighted the four essential pillars for the future success of students: knowledge, information technology, wisdom, and communication skills, whereas Ms. Priya Singh underscored the importance of fact-checking and the active use of all five senses while anchoring the news, offering invaluable advice to budding media professionals. The event also featured valuable insights from External Experts including Dr. Vivek Kumar, and Mr. Prasoon Narayan, who shared their expertise on film and theatre.

The ceremony appreciated the efforts and creativity of the students with an award distribution and celebrated the achievements of the participants in the various competitions.

In his closing remarks, Dr. Shambhoo Sharan Gupta extended heartfelt thanks to all the guests, external experts, university officials, and other chief contributors, including the faculty members and students of the media department who contributed to making this event a grand success.

Faculty and staff of the Media Department, including Dr. Mithilesh Kumar, Assistant Professor; Mrs. Monika Gaur, Assistant Professor; Mr. Shivam Yadav, Mr. Arvind Kumar Singh, Mr. Mohan Singh Rawat, Mr. Sunil Kumar Yadav and Students were present during the Maharishi Media Academic Fest “exPRESSion – 2024.”
