Objective of the Visit: To provide students with an understanding of supply chain management, logistics operations, and express cargo delivery systems in the transportation industry.

 

Participating Students: Total 50 students from BBA -1st Semester were participants of the visit.

An industrial visit to “Safexpress, Greater Noida” was successfully organized by Maharishi School of Business Management and MIRC on Thursday, 17th October 2024. Students accompanied by Dr. Alok Mittal, Assistant Professor, SOBM and Ms. Kumkum, MIRC Team Member. Upon arrival, the students were greeted by Mr. Satish, the Manager, who provided an overview of the company, its mission, vision, values, and business operations.

Key Points of the Visit:

  • Introduction to Safexpress:

Mr. Satish introduced the students to Safexpress mission, vision and core values. He explained the company’s business model, products, and their presence in the logistics and supply chain industry.

  • Hierarchy & Logistics Operations:

The students learned about the hierarchical structure within the company and its approach to logistics, supply chain management, and express cargo delivery.

  • Practical Tasks for Students:

Students were given two tasks during the visit:

    1. Identify factors affecting the efficiency of Safexpress.
    2. Understand why operating costs in the logistics industry are rising despite reduced tax rates after GST implementation.

Special Discussions with Senior Managers:

During the visit, the students had an insightful session with Mr. Nikhil, the Area Manager of Safeexpress, who provided valuable knowledge on the company’s operations. Mr. Nikhil explained Safexpress' collaboration with Pearson Publisher and offered a detailed explanation of the entire logistics process, from the initial booking of cargo to its last-mile delivery. He outlined how Safexpress handles both B2B (Business to Business) and B2C (Business to Consumer) models, giving students a practical understanding of how logistics companies cater to different market segments.

Interactive Q&A Session:

The students actively participated in the discussion, asking numerous insightful questions. Some of the key topics covered during the Q&A session included:

The session was highly interactive and provided students with practical insights into the inner workings of a leading logistics company. It also helped them understand the importance of logistics in modern business operations and the vast career potential in this dynamic industry.

Conclusion:

The visit concluded with a felicitation ceremony where Dr. Alok Mittal and Ms. Kumkum presented mementos to Mr. Satish of Safexpress. The students returned to MUIT at 1:00 PM after a valuable learning experience about logistics, supply chain management, and operational efficiencies in the transportation industry.
