Objective of the event: World Pharmacy Day aims to highlight pharmacists' vital role in healthcare, promoting better health outcomes and quality of life. Raise awareness about the importance of pharmacists' roles and motivate pharmacy students to encourage them to pursue their passion for the profession.

 Participating Students: B. Pharm and D.Pharm students were the primary attendees of the World Pharmacist Day 2024.

 The School of Pharmaceutical Sciences celebrated the “World Pharmacist Day” event. The theme for World Pharmacists Day was "Pharmacists: Meeting global health needs." This was celebrated on the 25th of September 2024 (Wednesday) from 10:00 AM onwards in coordination with IQAC. This theme highlights the significance of pharmacists in ensuring access to essential medicines, preventing health risks, and responding to health crises.

 The celebration began with the pharmacy oath, and a valuable speech by the respected dean of the pharmacy, Dr. Shweta Bajaj, addressed the gathering, emphasizing the significance of World Pharmacists Day. Apart from the celebrations for Pharmacists Day, students from the B.Pharm and D.Pharm programs engaged in various competitions like Mehndi Design, Board Decoration, Rangoli Competition, Slogan competition along with posters, and waste material model presentations that highlighted the essence of the pharmacy profession. These activities not only fostered creativity but also allowed students to showcase their understanding of the field in an engaging and artistic manner.

 

Activities Organized

  1. Mehndi Design Competition: Students showcased their artistic skills through intricate Mehandi designs, incorporating elements related to pharmacy and healthcare. This event celebrated cultural expression while promoting the pharmaceutical theme. Nishu and Soniya got 1st position and 2nd position, respectively.

 

  1. Board Decoration: Participants created visually appealing boards that illustrated important aspects of the pharmacy profession. Themes included medication safety, the role of pharmacists in community health, and advancements in pharmaceutical sciences. Prem Kumar and team (B.Pharm-1st Year) got the 1st prize, and Gouri and team (B.Pharm-2nd Year) got the 2nd prize in this particular activity.
  2. Rangoli Competition: Students crafted colorful rangoli designs that depicted symbols and messages related to the pharmacy field. This event emphasized creativity and traditional art, bringing the community together to appreciate cultural heritage. Runner-up of this event was Nancy and team (D.Pharm 2nd Year), and Ritu and their team are winners.
  3. Slogan Competition: Participants submitted catchy and informative slogans promoting the significance of pharmacists in healthcare. The best slogans were displayed in local pharmacies to raise awareness among the community. Ankit Saraswat (B.Pharm. 2nd Year) got the first prize.
  4. Poster Presentation: Students created informative posters that highlighted various aspects of pharmaceutical care, such as medication management, disease prevention, and the role of pharmacists in public health. This competition encouraged research and creativity. Bhawesh and Ayush were the winners, and Akhil and Mayank got the second position.
  5. Waste Material Model Presentation: Students utilized recycled materials to create models representing pharmaceutical concepts or innovations. This initiative not only promoted sustainability but also encouraged innovative thinking within the pharmaceutical context. Khushi Tiwari and team (B.Pharm 3rd sem) and Suraj Rawat and team (D.Pharm 2nd year) got the first and second prizes.

The celebration of World Pharmacists Day was a resounding success, with over 100 enthusiastic students participating in a variety of activities. This remarkable turnout highlighted the passion and commitment of the next generation of pharmacists to their profession. The enthusiasm and creativity demonstrated by students and participants not only fostered a deeper appreciation for the pharmacy profession but also strengthened community ties. As we reflect on this year’s events, it was clear that our collective efforts have made a significant impact. Moving forward, we aim to build on this momentum by continuing to celebrate the achievements of pharmacists and advocating for the profession's vital role in public health.

Together, we can ensure that the contributions of pharmacists are recognized and valued in our communities. We look forward to next year’s celebration, with the hope of inspiring even greater participation and awareness of the essential services provided by pharmacists worldwide.
