Objective of the Shodh Charcha Law Lecture Series—Ep 13: The objective of the Shodh Charcha Law Lecture Series—Ep13 was to explain the significance of moot courts in bridging the gap between theoretical knowledge and practical legal practice for law students.

Shodh Charcha Law Lecture Series—Ep 13 was held on 31st August, 2024. The session titled "Efficacy of Moot Courts for Law Graduates in Current Scenario" was organised by Maharishi Law School in coordination with IQAC. The session featured esteemed guest Assistant Professor Yogita Jain from the Faculty of Law at SGT University, Prof. (Dr.) K.B. Asthana (Dean MLS), alongside faculty coordinator Saumya Shukla (Assistant Professor), Riya Koul (Assistant Professor), and student coordinator LB Kiran (LL.B. 2nd year).

Professor Jain began by highlighting the increasing importance of practical training in law, noting that moot courts have become essential for bridging the gap between theoretical knowledge and real-world legal practice. Moot courts allow students to apply their legal knowledge in a simulated courtroom environment, which helps them develop critical skills such as research, legal drafting, and oral advocacy. Professor Jain pointed out that these simulations are particularly relevant in today's legal landscape, where practical skills are highly valued. The experience gained through moot courts not only enhances students' readiness for professional practice but also contributes to their career prospects by improving their resumes and employability.

However, the lecture also addressed several challenges faced by moot courts, including limited resources, the need for experienced mentors, and the necessity for greater institutional support. Professor Jain stressed the importance of making moot court problems more representative of real-world issues and increasing collaboration between law schools and legal practitioners to improve the overall effectiveness of these activities. She concluded by encouraging students to actively engage in moot courts to build a solid foundation for their future legal careers and by calling for more investment in resources and infrastructure to support these critical educational exercises.
