Media-Law and Society
Maharishi School of Journalism and Mass Communication, MUIT, Noida had successfully organized a National Conference titled “Media, Law and Society: Interrelations and Emerging Trends” on 30th July 2022. Various topics related to Media, the need for media law, changes coming in society due to Social media and its aspects were discussed.
The conference was held in different sessions like inaugural session, valedictory session along with three parallel technical sessions. Overall, 50 Research Papers were received on various media topics by Faculty, Research Scholars and Post Graduate students. There was participation from 12 states. Faculty and Research Scholars from various Central, State and Private universities like B.H.U. ,Central University of Jharkhand, Central University of Jammu, C.C.S. University, Meerut etc actively participated in the conference.
Prof. Sanjay Dwivedi, Director General, IIMC, New Delhi graced the Inaugural Session as Chief Guest. Prof. Sanjeev Bhanawat, Professor and Ex-HOD, Centre for Mass Communication
University of Rajasthan, Jaipur was the Keynote Speaker and Prof. (Dr.) Amar Pal Singh, Head & Dean University School of Law and Legal Studies, Guru Gobind Singh Indraprastha University, New Delhi was Special guest. All the guests gave their expertise view and said that to control the content on social media is the need of the hour.
Prof. K.G. Suresh, Vice Chancellor, Makhanlal Chaturvedi National University of Journalism and Communication, Bhopal was invited as Chief Guest. Prof. Prashant Kumar, Director and Professor, Tilak School of Journalism and Mass Communication, C.C.S. University, Meerut as keynote speaker, Dr Rajeev Agarwal, Senior Director, Lloyd Institute of Engineering and Technology, Greater Noida as Guest of Honour were invited for Valedictory Session. Prof. Suresh said, “There is no term like citizen doctor and citizen engineer then why the term citizen journalism emerged”. The speakers focused on the point that young journalists must know to categorize between fake news and true stories.
In the technical sessions, the Research Scholars presented their research papers followed by discussion on their research outcome with the sessions’ experts. The experts for technical sessions were Justice V.N. Sinha (Retd.), Prof. Pinki Sharma, Prof. Tasha Parihar, Dr. Ruhi Lal, Dr. Pawan Singh Malik and Dr Ritu Dubey Tiwari. The University had also awarded, two research scholars, the best research paper award where a certificate along with cash prize was given to them. The aim behind this award is to promote quality research. Manu Kaushik, Research Scholar, Dept. of Media Studies, Mahatma Gandhi Central University, Motihari and Aditi Khare, Research Scholar, Dept. of Journalism and Mass Communication, Banaras Hindu University were the winners of this award.
The conference was attended by near about 200 participants including Faculty, Research Scholars and Students in blended form. Hon’ble Chancellor Shri Ajay Prakash Shrivastava, DG Group Captain O.P. Sharma, VC Prof. BP Singh, Dean Academics Prof. Ajay Kumar and other dignitaries were also present.
