A Report on Intra Essay Writing Competition  

“Uniform Civil Code: Need of an Hour”

Objective of the Event: The objective of the Intra Essay Writing Competition was to encourage participants to critically analyze the concept of the Uniform Civil Code and its implications for Indian society, legal system, and personal freedoms.

On the auspicious occasion of Republic Day, 26^th January, 2024, Maharishi Law School in coordination with IQAC, organized an Intra Essay Writing Competition on the topic “Uniform Civil Code: Need of An Hour.” The event was held under the mentorship and guidance of Prof. (Dr.) K.B. Asthana (Dean MLS), Dr. Ritu Singh Meena (Assistant Professor), and Mr. Arun Kumar (Assistant Professor), Himanshu Tripathi (Convenor of Event Society, MLS), Akansha (Co-Convenor of Event Society, MLS), and Anirudh Modi (Member of Event Society, MLS), with the generous support of Dr. Trapti Agarwal (Dean Academics).

Participants were tasked with presenting their perspectives on the proposal to formulate and implement a Uniform Civil Code in India, which would apply to all citizens regardless of their religion, gender, or sexual orientation. The theme aimed to foster critical thinking and dialogue on a contentious issue that holds significant implications for Indian society.

The event saw enormous participation from the students. After the thorough evaluation process Deepshikha Verma and Rahul Kumar of (B.A, LL.B 4 Semester), emerged as the winner of the competition. Shristy Singh (B.A LL.B 2 Semester), secured the second prize, while Deepshikha Yadav (B.A LL.B 6 Semester) secured the third prize. The Intra Essay Writing Competition on the theme "Uniform Civil Code: Need of An Hour" was a resounding success
