Objective of the workshop: The workshop aimed to enhance the research skills of law students and provide them with practical insights into legal research methodologies. The goal of the workshop was to empower participants to navigate the complex legal landscape and find relevant information to support legal analysis, decision-making, and advocacy.
The workshop commenced with a keynote address by Mr. Kumar Kislaya Pankaj, an eminent legal expert with extensive experience in the field of legal research. Mr. Pankaj provided an overview of the importance of legal research in the legal profession and its significance in shaping legal arguments and decisions. Participants were introduced to various legal databases and online resources available for legal research. The session focused on navigating databases effectively to retrieve relevant case laws, statutes, and legal articles. Mr. Pankaj elaborated on different research methodologies used in legal research, including doctrinal and empirical research approaches. Participants gained insights into formulating research questions, conducting literature reviews, and analyzing legal sources. The workshop also covered the importance of proper citation and referencing in legal research. Participants learned about different citation styles and tools for managing citations effectively. The workshop fostered interactive discussions between the facilitator and participants, allowing students to clarify doubts and engage in peer learning. Participants actively participated in group activities and case discussions, enhancing their understanding of legal research principles. The workshop provided an enriching learning experience for law students. Through insightful sessions and practical exercises, participants gained valuable skills and knowledge essential for conducting effective legal research.
