“District Court Visit”

Objective of the Visit: The purpose of this visit was to provide students with practical insights into the workings of the legal system, enhance their understanding of courtroom procedures, and expose them to real-life legal proceedings. The purpose of the visit was to understand the workings of a court and the nature of the duties of the judicial officers.
Maharishi Law School and Maharishi University of Information Technology Noida organized an expedition for a court visit to the district court in Delhi on Monday, i.e., 12th December, 2022 for the students of law. It was organized by Dr. K.B. Asthana, Dean of MLS Law, along with the faculty members Dr. Ritu Meena, Mr. Arun Kumar, and Mr. Amal Srivastava, Assistant Professor of Maharishi Law School. The visit was organized to aid the theoretical knowledge gained by the students with the insightful experience of how the law works in practice. The purpose of the visit was to understand the work of the court and the nature of the services provided by the judicial officers. This visit was organized for students to understand the role of the court in dispensing justice, in which they observed the live work of the court proceedings, the role of the public prosecutor in criminal trials, and the way judges, prosecutors, and defense lawyers handle the cases.
The visit was to help the student understand the role of the court in dispensing justice in any case, the role of prosecutors in a case, the way cases proceed in a court, the way judges, prosecutors, and defense lawyers handle the case, and the relationship between the prosecutors and the police. This gave us an opportunity to understand the actual need for coordination in the justice system. The visit included an in-depth study of the day-to-day functioning of the civil and criminal courts at different levels and over a vast variety of cases. The aim was to evaluate the resources available and the distribution of power between the judges, the prosecution, and the defense council.
