Brewing Code Hackathon 2023

 

The Maharishi School of Data Science organized a 24-hour hackathon that started on March 24, 2023. A hackathon is a fast-paced event where individuals and teams come together to develop innovative solutions to solve problems. It was a day-and-night event in which participants had to build a project using their technical and analytical skills within 24 hours. Young, technical, and innovative minds worked around the clock to create a functional product or prototype that addresses a specific challenge or problem in their respective tracks. The event concluded the following day, March 25, 2023.This hackathon was conducted in collaboration with UpGrad. UpGrad provided industry experts who critically observed the performance of each team and scored them accordingly. The winning team received Rs 40,000 in cash, while the runner-up team received Rs 10,000.

The selected tracks for this hackathon were:

Track 1: Clean & Green Energy

Track 2: Agriculture & Smart Farming

Track 3: Smart Education

Track 4: Smart Healthcare

Track 5: Renewable and Sustainable Energy

Mails and a personalized visit were made to different colleges and universities in Delhi and the NCR. An online advertisement campaign was also launched in order to attract students. In total, 15 teams attended this event. Collectively, 52 students from various institutes participated. Teams from the following colleges and universities marked their presence:

From the data collected, it was observed that the most teams had 4 members.

Round A started at 11:00 AM with the announcement of the tracks and the introduction of the judge. The judge for this round was Mr. Sumit Tyagi. Participants started to work on their solutions after the allotment of seats. From hardware to software-based solutions, which included the development of mobile apps and websites that utilise modern technologies such as machine learning and deep learning, teams put their best efforts forward to pitch for the evaluation. This round lasts till 5:30 p.m. After careful evaluation on the parameters of direction, practicality, impact, creativity, demand, presentation, and originality, nine teams qualified for Round B, which is as follows:

Round B began immediately following the announcement of the finalists. This round was focused on refining and improving the solutions developed during the first round. Teams that advanced to the second round received feedback from judges and mentors. They were given an opportunity to incorporate that feedback into their work. This round was more focused and intense, with teams working to fine-tune their prototypes and presentations for the final judging. This was the final opportunity for teams to push themselves to create the most innovative and impactful solution. Dinner was arranged for the participants of Round B at 8:00 PM.

On March 25, 2023, at 11:00 a.m., a final evaluation was done by industry experts Mr. Vishal and Mr. Bhanu. After judging the performances of participants based on the previously mentioned parameters (direction, practicality, impact, creativity, demand, presentation, and originality), the winner and runner-up teams were announced.
