International Yoga Day was celebrated with great enthusiasm at both campuses of Maharishi University of Information Technology in Noida and Lucknow on June 21, 2023, under the theme ‘Yoga for Vasudhaiv Kutumbakam’. The event brought together faculty, staff, and students to practice Maharishi Yoga Asana and engage in Transcendental Meditation. The celebration was a perfect way to mark this special day and promote the benefits of yoga for physical and mental well-being.
The event was introduced by Mr. Shivam Yadav, an assiduous meditator and faculty member at Noida campus and Mr. Ajay Kumar, a renowned Yoga Instructor at Lucknow Campus. They emphasized on the significance of International Yoga Day and the importance of regular yoga practice for maintaining a healthy lifestyle. Mr. Yadav and Mr. Ajay Kumar highlighted the various benefits of yoga, including improved flexibility, strength, and stress reduction. The asanas were demonstrated by Ms. Anjali, Ms. Arti, Ms. Aishwarya and Mr. Shibu Dass at both Noida and Lucknow campuses.
A special invitee, Ms. Pooja Kaushik, a well-known yoga practitioner, was also present at the event. She shared her knowledge and expertise by giving instructions on the first set of Yoga asanas taught by the Maharishi himself. Ms. Kaushik encouraged everyone to practice these asanas regularly to experience their immense health benefits. Her guidance and demonstration of the asanas made it easier for participants to understand and perform them correctly.
After the yoga asana session, Ms. Pooja Kaushik conducted a group practice of Transcendental Meditation. The meditation session led by Ms. Kaushik created a serene atmosphere, and participants felt a sense of tranquility and inner calm. They learned the importance of incorporating meditation into their daily routine to experience its profound effects on their physical and mental health.
Following the yoga asana and meditation sessions, all the participants gathered for a group picture as a memento of the event. This picture captured the unity and togetherness of everyone present, symbolizing the collective effort towards promoting yoga and its benefits.
To conclude the event, snacks were distributed among the participants. The snacks provided an opportunity for everyone to relax, socialize, and reflect on the significance of the International Yoga Day celebration.
